Sensei Wilson Bunn  Wilson Bunn has been in law enforcement for seven years.  He worked for the Asheville Police Department for their K9 Team until 2018 and he currently works for the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.  He began training martial arts in 1999.  He began training in high school to get in shape and learn to defend himself from bullies.  He trained informally in grappling and boxing while attending Appalachian State University.  He has been training at Asheville Self Defense since 2010 and has earned his fourth degree black belt in Goshin Jitsu, a fourth degree black belt in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido, a shodanho in Sento Rhu Aiki-Jujitsu.  He is a co-owner of Asheville Self Defense along with Sensei Mike Pace.      Sensei Mike Pace  Mike has been training at this school since 2014, and is a third degree black belt in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido and a second degree black belt in Tenbukan Goshin Jitsu.  He brings with him more than a decade of coaching experience working with children and teens.  He brings with him a wealth of martial arts experience in Shaolin Kempo where he enjoyed participating in tournaments.  His coaching experience and attention to detail allows him to teach highly technical skills to children and adults of all ages.  Mike is also a co-owner of Asheville Self Defense.
Mr. Zach Glass Zach   is   a   first   degree   black   belt   in   Goshin   Jitsu   and   and   is   a   second   degree   black   belt in   Chun   Moo   Hapkido.      He   has   been   training   here   for   the   past   5   years   and   recently started   working   in   the   After   School   Program.      Zach   loves   teaching   ASD   Kids   because seeing   them   learn   and   understand   their   homework   is   rewarding.      He   also   enjoys seeing   them   get   excited   about   learning   new   techniques   and   watching   their   positive attitudes when they get excited. Ms. Mia Britt   Mia   has   been   training   in   the   at   this   school   since   2014   and   is   first   degree   black   belt   in Goshin   Jitsu   and   a   second   degree   black   belt   in   Chun   Moo   Hapkido.      She   has   worked in   the   After   School   Program   since   January   2016   and   is   excellent   with   children.      Her experience   in   the   After   School   Program   and   assistance   with   the   evening   classes   has equipped   her   to   be   an   excellent   instructor   of   children   and   adults   of   all   ages.      When not   training   martial   arts   she   enjoys   hiking   the   beautiful   outdoors,   curling   up   with   a good book, and spending quality time with her friends and family.

Ms. Grace Bilbrey  Grace has been a student at this school for 6 years.  She began her training in Dojoku Martial Arts and tested for her seconde degree black belt in Dojoku.  She has continued her training with Asheville Self Defense and has earned her second degree black belt in Tenbukan Goshin Jitsu and a first degree black belt in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido.  She is the director of the After School Program and helps teach both the children’s and adult classes.          Mr. Jesse Meth  This is Jesse’s first year training and teaching at Asheville Self Defense.  He grew up in New Jersey and his father was a Shotokan Karate instructor. He began training Shotokan in his childhood and joined the Junior Varisty Wrestling team when he began junior high school.  During high school he began wrestling at the Varsity level and was chosen to be Captain of the wrestling team during his senior year.  After high school he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and assisted coaching the high school wrestling team. He brings 10 years of wrestling experience and another 5 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience. He has a strong loyalty towards the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and greatly enjoys sharing my knowledge of wrestling and BJJ with the students at Asheville Self Defense.

She has worked in the Afterschool Program since January 2016 and is excellent with children.  Her experience in the afterschool program and assistance with the evening classes has equipped her to be an excellent instructor of children and adults of all ages.  When not training martial arts she enjoys hiking the beautiful outdoors, curling up with a good book, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
