Renshi Wilson Bunn  Wilson Bunn has been in law enforcement since 2012.  He has worked as a patrol officer, field training officer, K9 officer, and detective.  He began training martial arts in 1999.  He began training in high school to get in shape and learn to defend himself from bullies.  He trained informally in grappling and boxing while attending Appalachian State University.  He has been training at Asheville Self Defense (formerly Dojoku Martial Arts) since 2010 and has earned his fourth degree black belt in Goshin Jitsu, a fourth degree black belt in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido, a shodanho in Sento Rhu Aiki-Jujitsu.  He is a co-owner of Asheville Self Defense along with Sensei Mike Pace.      Sensei Mike Pace  Mike has been training at this school since 2014 and is a third degree black belt in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido and a second degree black belt in Tenbukan Goshin Jitsu.  He brings with him more than a decade of coaching experience working with children and teens.  He also has a wealth of martial arts experience in Shaolin Kempo where he enjoyed participating in tournaments.  His coaching experience and attention to detail allows him to teach highly technical skills to children and adults of all ages.  Mike is also a co-owner of Asheville Self Defense.
Mrs. Jamie Reid This    is    Jamie’s    first    year    working    with    the    Asheville    Self    Defense    After    School Program    as    director.        Jamie    was    born    and    raised    in    Hendersonville,    NC.    She graduated   college   in   2010   with   a   Bachelors   in   Ministry   from   Carolina   Christian College   in   Winston-Salem,   NC.   She   enjoys   teaching   and   working   with   children   and has   previous   experience   as   a   Sunday   school   teacher   for   six   years   and   has   also   been homeschooling   her   nine   year   old   daughter   since   kindergarten.   She   finds   it   rewarding to play a part in helping children learn and grow. Mrs. Paru Bunn Paru   was   born   and   raised   in   India   and   has   worked   with   the   After   School   Program   for the   last   two   years.      She   moved   to   the   U.S.   in   2010   with   her   husband,   Sensei   Wilson and   she   is   a   co-owner   of   the   school   with   Sensei   Wilson   and   Sensei   Mike.      She   loves cooking Indian food and hanging out with her family when she is not at the dojo.

Ms. Lexi Labb  Lexi started her martial arts training in 2010 in our After School Program.  Now, she is a first degree black belt in Tenbukan Goshin Jitsu and is cross training in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido.  Although she was born in Hawaii, Asheville has been home to her. Outside of work and training, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, and biking. After graduating in the spring of 2020, she plans to pursue a biology degree at Appalachian State Universty. She is one of the staff members in our After School Program and helps run Summer Camps.  She loves teaching children’s classes and watching the kids grow and develop confidence, courage, and poise.         Mrs. Rachel Everson   Rachel began her martial arts training five years ago and has attained the rank of first degree black belt in Tenbukan Goshin Jitsu.  She loves the outdoors, her children, and her husband. She spends her time either training intensely, studying Homeopathic medicine, and taking care of her family.  She cross trains in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido and teaches women’s self defense courses.         Mr. John Nelson  Mr. John Nelson has been training at Asheville Self Defense for the past 5 years and has attained the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt in Tenbukan Goshin Jitsu.  He is currently assisting with teaching the evening classes and cross training in Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido.

Sensei Wilson Bunn

Mr. Jesse Meth
This is Jesse’s first year training and teaching at Asheville Self Defense.  He grew up in New Jersey and his father was a Shotokan Karate instructor. He began training Shotokan in his childhood and joined the Junior Varisty Wrestling team when he began junior high school.  During high school he began wrestling at the Varsity level and was chosen to be Captain of the wrestling team during his senior year.  After high school he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and assisted coaching the high school wrestling team. He brings ten years of wrestling experience and another five years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience. He has a strong loyalty towards the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and greatly enjoys sharing his knowledge of wrestling and BJJ with the students at Asheville Self Defense.
Mrs. Paru Bunn
Paru was born and raised in India and has worked with the After School Program for the last two years.  She moved to the U.S. in 2010 with her husband, Sensei Wilson and she is a co-owner of the school with Sensei Wilson and Sensei Mike.  She loves cooking Indian food and hanging out with her family when she is not at the dojo.
